alan g Why was this movie made? Cash grab? Favor to an actor? Horrible acting. Stupid plot. Avoid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Alec B I have absolutely no idea why Edwards was so intent on continuing this franchise (especially with Ted Wass who just seems lost here) rather than letting it be. Also since so much of the movie is obsessed with Clouseau's, and ultimately Sellers', legacy it just makes the attempt to center the series around a new character feel like an afterthought. An all around awful movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Audience Member I admit I checked out this movie with low expectations, more out of completism than anything else. Actually, it wasn't as bad as expected, but though the slapstick scenes are good, the rest of the movie is blah. Inspector Clouseau is a man who acts dignified despite all his bumbling and pratfalls; Clifton Sleigh has the pratfalls but nothing else. I got the idea that what happened in the end was that Clouseau ended up going bad and ended up stealing the Pink Panther diamond for himself (though it would be stolen in turn by The Phantom-David Niven reprising his role as best as his ill health would allow). I suppose Clouseau's career as a policeman would have to end somehow for the intended replacement to take over, but I was hoping for better than this. An all around awful movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Parts of this movie are very funny, I enjoyed it. Not nearly as good as the 60's movies with Peter Sellers but head and shoulders above the later reboot with Steve Martin. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Out of all the post-Sellers films in the franchise, this one does the least harm and is easily the most enjoyable. Sleigh is a pretty adequate Clouseau-like character, the cameo at the end was absolutely hysterical, and I overall had a relatively good time watching this one.
