Critics Consensus

A formulaic comedy that's unlikely to spread much yuletide merriment, Daddy's Home 2 can only muster a few stray yuks from its talented cast.

Ryan Gilbey New Statesman Gibson could scarcely hope to play a character more like himself if he landed the lead in The Mel Gibson Story. Nov 30, 2017 Full Review Ed Potton The Times (UK) The best that can be said for Daddy's Home 2 is that it's slightly less awful than its recent female-led counterpart, A Bad Moms Christmas. Rated: 2/5 Nov 29, 2017 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) A cynical, synthetic piece of Hollywood production line tat, which reheats the narrative leftovers of an already mediocre domestic comedy about blended families. Audience Member BIST DU EHER ERSTER FREUND ODER FRAUENVERSTEHER? Was soll schon passieren? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Janet D A big letdown from the first movie. And Mel Gibson played such an unlikeable, unpleasant character that it soured most of the movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Logan G. Daddy’s Home 2 is probably better than the first. It is funny, has a great cast, and the holiday setting is cool. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/24/25 Full Review Anne C I thought it a absolutely perfect film it even more funnier than the first one I absolutely recommend it to you and perfect film for kids I bet you your kids absolutely loved it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/23/25 Full Review Andrew People hate this for no reason too Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/03/25 Full Review Koi P Lots of laughs and good feels. Entertaining and fun. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
