Violet B W You have no idea how good this film is, thanks TUBI for recommending it! It hits on many levels. The writing is on point and this is a great directorial debut for Andrew Stapp. I loved the characters especially Vincent and Skeeter. I highly recommend it. A must see indie film. Only very small negative is that it's not child friendly but that's ok. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Yvonne H My husband and I caught this on TUBI and we really enjoyed it. I used to edit videos so I greatly appreciated the non linear approach of the film as it kept me guessing. The excellent VO narration really was the glue, as it helped connect the timelines or 'worlds'. Tony Todd could have been used in more scenes but Stelio Savante (who's films and roles we've always liked) more than carries it, the Vincent character has charm and presence in spades. We loved the way his character became the 'messenger' between both worlds. I would give it five stars but for the cinematography. It was annoying because it was so inconsistent. Sometimes overly shaky and other times very amateurish in the way it was framed. The score was excellent. Marfa seems like a very interesting city. I strongly recommend Destination Marfa if you like 'Twilight Zone' type themes or really anything scifi. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/20/24 Full Review Charles R The movie lacks all tension and suspense. Absolutely NOTHING engages the viewer or puts you on the edge of your seat. Interest is never piqued. Marfa suffers from a poor script, flat acting, bad directing, terrible editing and extremely slow pacing. The narration is particularly awful with a lack of contextual interpretation and the challenge of acceptable diction by the South African actor assigned the task of reading the words. There are a host of missed opportunities throughout the film. Production values echo of an extremely low budget, so you simply get what you paid for. The plot is easily predictable. You know, almost from the start, exactly where the ensemble is headed. There are much better ways to spend your time. SKIP this, unless you intend to academically analyze all the sour notes it hits. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/18/23 Full Review Yves R Found this on TUBI. Was well worth the discovery. Felt like a stand alone Twin Peaks, with some well chosen locations. The cinematography was funky though, that's my only issue. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A mess of a plot that Tony Todd couldn't save. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Crappy script, subpart acting, confusing, bad jokes and shotty camera work. What a waste of time. The lack of talent the director has is well displayed here in this awful film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
