The central murder-mystery contains so many convoluted diversions, digressions and detours it makes the whole enterprise play like a long stream-of-consciousness sketch with a glaringly hollow core.

I loved it so much! I never expected the ending, and it did make me cry, but it connects and makes sense despite it being as a 'jump' to the answer. It was humorous as well, of course, but nonetheless go give it a watch! (I'm watching the newest one rn)

Chinatown 3 is at least passably watchable compared to the horrendously nonsensical sequel. That being said, it's more of the same and if you're a fan of the series' meld of slapstick humour with sherlock holmes' style detective scenes, this one is a little more down-to-earth, but not by much. also, this one evidently is setting up sequels rather than just telling it's own story which is a tragedy of any successful movie these days.
