Optimistic young Englishman Toby (Ivan Jackson) moves to Johannesburg, South Africa, when he's offered a job there as a publisher. Upon arrival, he's taken aback by the social problems that surround him, but he finds the nation's lack of a response to these ills even more disturbing. As Toby gets to know the locals, he befriends Steven (Zakes Mokae), a black man who teaches him more about apartheid. Though Toby's views ultimately cost him his job, he finds a new focus -- political reform.

Audience Member The cast list and description for this film have been mixed up between two movies of the same name, both out in 1962, but with differing stories. The Peter Halliday and Ingrid Hafner version concentrates on a body in the couples house which Peter finds and then decides to hide to save his wife who he presumes is the murderer. It has a decent screenplay. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
