Critics Consensus

A highly entertaining entry in Disney's renaissance era," Aladdin is beautifully drawn, with near-classic songs and a cast of scene-stealing characters.

Duane Byrge Hollywood Reporter The magical, the mystical, the mysterious -- all those powers that lurk within movies but are rarely tapped are unleashed in Disney's latest magnificent animation, Aladdin. Dec 6, 2019 Full Review Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times Aladdin is a film of wonders. To see it is to be the smallest child, open-mouthed at the screen's sense of magic, as well as the most knowing adult, eager to laugh at some surprisingly sly humor. Nov 19, 2013 Full Review Michael Sragow New Yorker What makes this animated feature such intense, giddy fun is the eruption of uninhibited parody that Robin Williams provides as the voice of the Genie in Aladdin's lamp. Nov 19, 2013 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn Robin Williams is the reason this movie is amazing. This is a damn near perfect film. Rated: 5/5 Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn This is one of my favorite animated films! Jafar through an adult lens is not a smart villain but that doesn't impact my rating. Rated: 5/5 Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews Aladdin is a beautifully passionate story about how two incredibly different people with two completely different lifestyles can come to love each other for who they truly are. Robin Williams' scenes alone superbly elevate this film. Rated: A Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Nick R Great animation, an excellent story, and catchy music make Aladdin a great film in all of the right ways. But the movie is completely elevated by the sheer talent and entertainment of the late Robin Williams' performance as the Genie, one of the greatest voice performances in all of cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Kayleigh S I love this movie especially Robin Williams as Genie he always makes me smile 😃 😊 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Lucas E Este filme e lindo de mais. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review Luke R I’m never an Aladdin guy. It seems a bit boring, and Iago is so negative and annoying. This version of Arabian Nights song is kinda annoying too. Although, Robin Willam’s genie role, impressions, and fourth wall breaking is hilarious and impressive. Glad he gets his freedom too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/24 Full Review Ryan A This is one of the best disney movies I've ever seen in my whole life 💕💘🥰😁👍🤣😂😎🩵❤️💚 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Dale R Based on the story from the Arabic folktale from One Thousand and One Nights. This movie is iconic for one single reason - Robin Williams' performance as the Genie. Of course Alan Menkin hits it out of the park with the songs that are one of the best song collections in Disney animated canon. This is the last movie Howard Ashman wrote the lyrics for the songs. Tim Rice took over after Ashman’s death. The songs and Williams’ performance are what drive this movie. While the other stuff isn’t bad, it just is in a lower league. The stuff that is great caused this movie to become the highest grossing animated movie of all time until The Lion King came around two years later. It also spawned two straight to DVD sequels and two cartoon series. I really do think this is a must watch just for the Genie, the rest is just extra goodness.
