Debbi H Love Dollys heart and willingness to speak Jesus! Merry Christmas Dolly! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Google U Dolly Parton is a time-honored, legendary country music star with a catalog of smash hits spanning decades. She's been inducted into multiple halls of fame. You might be surprised, then, to find out she made a Christmas movie that's harder to stomach than week-old Taco Bell. Everything seems to be going wrong for Dolly in this movie—in more ways than one. Her big show is being sabotaged by seemingly everything imaginable. As opposed to blaming the incompetence of her staff, she spends a good five minutes of precious time ranting and singing about everyone's favorite punching bag: SATAN. Yes, folks—you heard that right. At least decent Christmas movies like "Home Alone" had the decency to blame Joe Pesci. Even Willie Nelson couldn't save this one from being totally, completely, and utterly rotten. Were there a movie made whose sole purpose was to teach aspiring filmmakers how not to make a movie, this would be a fantastic candidate. I've been a fan of Dolly Parton all my life, but I have to call this one as I see it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/23 Full Review L M Had fun watching the songs and the different guest stars, but even more so, loved and appreciated the earnest messages of faith, hope & love. Yes, it was super silly and dorky, but it was one of the most heartfelt shows I've seen in this contentious, cynical decade. Thank you for an uplifting break, Dolly. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review becky a Dolly's songs were beautiful and meaningful! The story line not so much. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Rob R Wow, what a misfire. We all love Dolly but you'd think after all these years in the business she'd have better instincts. Her specials have always leaned a little corny but this is a whole nother level, the whole thing is just so cringe. Bad acting and actors, bad "plot". I liked her Christmas special during the pandemic so much better. Just Dolly singing and telling her true stories. Oh well we gonna still love Dolly no matter what. But please get back to the basics next time Dolly. This overproduced let's put on a show silliness ain't it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/26/22 Full Review actor m Everything on screen isn't expected to be real, but watching the Dolly stand-in dancer being flipped around & doing high kicks in Red's Diner was totally bizarre and comical. You can freeze frame at 21:39 and clearly see it's not even Dolly or Jimmy Fallon. Also, the Jimmy Fallon autotune was distracting when accompanied by Dolly's magical voice. Dolly has great success off playing both sides of the fence, i.e. Talking about Jesus and the Devil, but then singing about being whatever you feel like which this movie also does. Definitely sent conflicting messages except for all the shameless plugs for her ventures. Dolly has made a point to cater to all audiences and after all, she isn't an entertainer, not a preacher. If it was not for the Dolly Parton signing, this would be a 1 star movie! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
