The seductive Phyllis Dietrichson (Samantha Eggar) manipulates insurance agent Walter Neff (Richard Crenna) into murdering her husband and staging the crime as an accident, so that she can cash in on her late spouse's life insurance policy and split the money with Walter. Initially, the scheme works to perfection -- but before long, tensions and suspicions rise between Phyllis and Walter. Meanwhile, Walter's superior (Lee J. Cobb) begins to think that something is off about the Dietrichson case.

ellen h A wonderful. piece that holds your interest without any blatant sex, violence, or even much action but excellent acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review Haunted by H The TV movie remake of DOUBLE INDEMNITY comes across as a 1970s gaudy, cheap-looking, and flat dinner theater performance. Not only does the TV version repeat many of the original's classic hardboiled lines, but the remake also tries adding its own. Lee J. Cobb comes across the best, reprising the Edward G. Robinson role. However, at times, he slurs and appears to be reading off of cue cards. Arch Johnson also does a good job playing Dietrickson. That's not saying much, since he has little screen time. Although Richard Crenna is amicable enough (talent-wise) to play Walter Neff, he exudes no sexual chemistry with Samantha Eggar, which makes the DOUBLE INDEMNITY TV movie a completely pointless and soulless remake. The only thrill I got was seeing the lost All-American Burger fast food joint on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, which was briefly used as an exterior location. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Jay H Samantha Eggar and Richard Crenna have no chemistry whatsoever. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
