Based on the Disney version of the Nickelodeon television show Doug. The plot centers around Doug and Skeeter finding a lake monster and trying to keep it safe. I was a fan of the Nickelodeon version of this show and once Disney bought the animation company that created Doug, their version of the show was never quite the same. Including the absence of the amazing theme song! The characters and heart just aren't there and it seems a hollow shell of what it used to be. This movie is forgettable and not worth your time, but check out the Nickelodeon television show!

Having being fan of doug from 90s nickelodeon I was looking forward to film sadly when disney brought rights to it sooo boring and uninteresting I don't recommend this I watched nostalgia critic review on this i can say its awful just stick to nickelodeon version

A few decent moments, but 'Doug's 1st Movie' is largely flat. If you like the television series from Nickelodeon/Disney then you'll probably enjoy this, though for those who haven't - including me - it's a meh watch. The animation is average, while the voice cast are mostly fine but some are a little irritating. Plot-wise it's basic and rather predictable. Tom McHugh (Doug) and Constance Shulman (Patti) are alright in their respective roles, though Fred Newman is kinda annoying as Skeeter. The film doesn't do anything to make you actually care for the characters, so I can cut the cast some slack in that regard. There's not really much more to note. Some will like this, some won't... I can understand both sides to be fair. For me, though, it is all too slow.
