Bob Miller indieWire Thankfully, the Japanese continue to make traditional hand-drawn animation, digitized in color and partially- enhanced with CG. With Battle of Gods, it's a seamless blend, and entertains as any CG-animated film. Mar 8, 2019 Full Review Charles Solomon Los Angeles Times "Battle of Gods" delivers not only the familiar look but also the slapstick comedy, character interaction and over-the-top martial arts fights that "Dragon Ball" fans want and expect. Aug 7, 2014 Full Review Leah B. Jackson IGN Movies The fight scenes in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods are tremendous. Each punch and kick has a great sense of power behind it, and the way the camera swerves and glides in new 3D angles makes each battle exhilarating. Rated: 7.5/10 Mar 8, 2019 Full Review Rob Bricken io9.com Even if you enjoy this bizarre deconstruction of one of the world's most popular anime, you still have to sit through a great deal of nonsense to get there. Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Jack O'Regan Screen Rant Obviously the action is flawless, lending itself impeccably to the modern animation style, and it certainly doesn't hurt that the film is canon. Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Octavio Karbank CBR For all its little hiccups, it was a perfect return to the franchise. In the nearly two decades since DBZ ended, animation had improved drastically, leading to flawless-looking fight sequences. Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Jay W "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" came out at a time where I was confident that the Dragon Ball franchise was dead and buried. But this movie successfully resurrected the series like no other. A big problem with many of Dragon Ball's movies is their lackluster villains. That are either pale imitators of their much more interesting series counterparts or they are just a big strong guy to punch. Let's face it, there isn't much personality behind Lord Slug, Bojack or King Gurumes. That is where this movie rectifies that mistake. Beerus is an absolute delight. He and Whis are welcome additions to the Dragon Ball family. They have vibrant personalities that help them bounce off the other characters in amusing ways. The movies also do a better job than other DB movies of incorporating all of our favorite cast members. Dende has some moments, Videl, Mi, Pilaf, Oolong and Yamcha all make a meaningful addition to the story. And it has one of my all-time favorite Vegeta moments, and that is no small feat. There is an irony, most DB movies are ripping off what happens in the series. But in this case, the series would then try to rip off what happens in this movie. As it stands right now, this is my favorite of the all the Dragon Ball movies. This opened the door for the series going forward. In the same Raditz in DBZ opened up the "Z-Warriors" to go to space. Beerus in this movie opens them to cosmic deity level adventures. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review TNT D For Dragon Ball fans and action movie lovers alike, this film celebrates 'Dragon Ball Z' with hilarious comedy that is immediately followed up by a beautifully animated fight with 'Battle Of Gods'' main villain: Lord Beerus, who (as well as his friend Whis) is very well written and surprisingly fleshed-out for only an hour and a half of screen-time. The ending wraps up 'Battle Of Gods' but sets up 'Dragon Ball Super', preparing viewers for what's to come. 9/10- TNTDude Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Tayna M The anime is very good and has a great development, but it still takes a while for some things to happen in some episodes. The fights are always epic and very well worked but I don't think it should always be a long fight, it doesn't always have to be a huge fight. But it's not bad, far from it, it's just not my favorite anime. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Boc T The animation is much better than a lot of the older movies despite the years since the last one. Though it is labelled a DBZ movie, this is the start of Dragon Ball Super. Good action, great comedy (Vegeta) and lots of cameos. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Ryan S FILME MUITO DIVERTIDO ANIMAÇÃO EXELENTE BILLS E UM PERSONAGEN INCRÍVEL E UM ANTAGONISTA MELHOR AINDA 9/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review pegasus363 u The movie was quite illusory; it set high expectations at the time, and completely undermined everything established by Dragon Ball and Akira Toriyama. This film only brought me to tears during its credits, not for its content, but because the credits rolled scenes from all of Dragon Ball and Z, triggering a wave of nostalgia so intense, I couldn't help but shed a tear. It seems this movie was made for nostalgia-seekers and the older generation. As a Dragon Ball fan, I went to see it and was met with a huge disappointment due to its lackluster new plot and poor script. However, this is purely a reflection of my nostalgia, nothing more to add. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
