Verina Glaessner Time Out Much of the blame rests with the chaotic and clumsy script fashioned from Kyle Onstott's potboiling bestseller. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Vincent Canby New York Times There's more hot air than steam in the overwrought melodrama of Drum. May 9, 2005 Full Review Steve Warren The Barb (Atlanta) You can't possibly take this one seriously, but you might enjoy it. May 9, 2023 Full Review Richard Corliss New Times (magazine) [Every character] is drawn in caricatures broad enough to do a pay-toilet artist proud. Jun 22, 2022 Full Review Jacoba Atlas Los Angeles Free Press A hopelessly inept, foul interpretation of history and human emotions that should be ignored at all costs. Oct 30, 2019 Full Review Fernando Trueba El Pais (Spain) The movie is nothing more than a soap opera set in New Orleans. [Full Review in Spanish] Jul 26, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Its your classic seventies exploitation movie, combined with a salacious, soft porn plantation drama. All the sordid, sleazy, tantalizing ingredients are present for outrage and some great non P.C. entertainment. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review delysid d drum is the son of mandingo, he gets stuck in a sex farm Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/17/17 Full Review Audience Member This pseudo-sequel to Mandingo isn't nearly as disturbing and has a better plot. Warren Oates is very good as the plantation owner. Plus, Yaphet Kotto is added to help with acting (since Ken Norton is a boxer turned Actor). If you liked Mandingo then you should watch Drum. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Follow up to MANDINGO is respectable in its own right with slave Norton sold to plantation owner Warren Oates and leading a revolt. Good cast makes up for Norton's deficiencies in the lead. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Django Unchained is totally based off this film. Drum is a pretty damn good flick! This is so UNDERRATED!!!!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member 82% "I love you Claudia, but maybe niggers shouldn't love."-Drum (Ken Norton) I'll bet, two bits, that Tarantino loves this flick. "Blind is the color of freedom."-Blaise (Yaphet Kotto) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
