Audience Member The way the film concludes is sort of terrible and poorly executed, and there are some scenes that look like they could have been shot from a really cheap camera. But Dude Where's the Party is a really funny, interesting comedy that works because of the fact that most of it's jokes are based around some really interesting themes about culture and identity crisis. Really solid performances from the cast here too, Kal Penn is great as always and Sunil Malhotra and Sunil Thakkar are hysterical in their supporting roles. Perhaps it's because I grew up knowing a lot about indian culture that the jokes hit so hard for me, but I think it's a really funny flick. Really cool soundtrack too. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member i loved it...for the obvious reason Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member did not get the point of this movie Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The identity issues brought up in this movie make it a lot more prescient than I would originally have expected from the cover, and this movie definitely has a lot going for it in that sense. While this movie isn't much to scream about otherwise, it's still charming and refreshing because it's a little left of center of the original trope. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member it was weird,i didnt like it too much, but some of it was pretty good, some funny scenes.cool accents.decent.probably could have been better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Kal Penn is the only reason i figured i'll watch this flick. I wouldn't watch it again. It was stupid. Marrit Ingman Austin Chronicle Rated: 3/5 Nov 9, 2003 Full Review Matt Weitz Dallas Morning News Town mouse/country mouse isn't exactly the freshest conceit, but the poignancy of the identity issues and the freshness of the cultural glimpses push this film through the occasional slow and/or stale parts. Rated: C+ Nov 6, 2003 Full Review Kirk Honeycutt Hollywood Reporter Assembles all the usual stereotypes in one movie. Sep 9, 2003 Full Review Millicent Mayfield San Francisco Examiner Filled with wacky humor and inside jokes that may leave Indian audiences rolling in their seat and average Americans sporting a quizzical look. Rated: 3/4 Oct 1, 2003 Full Review Jeffrey Westhoff Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, IL) The filmmakers joke about situations that will surprise those of us unfamiliar with Indian culture and amuse those who are. Much of the remaining material, however, is trite. Rated: 2/4 Sep 5, 2003 Full Review Cherryl Dawson and Leigh Ann Palone TheMovieChicks.com The story bogs a bit and seems to run long, but any movie that has cricket and high-energy Indian numbers can't be all bad.
