Justin Lowe Hollywood Reporter An unimaginative drama that never quite gains momentum. Apr 19, 2016 Full Review Katie Walsh The Playlist It will be interesting to see what Marsalis can do with a more developed story and perhaps even darker material, because it's clear she has a way with both actors and the camera. Rated: B Apr 19, 2016 Full Review Ken Jaworowski New York Times Catalina Aguilar Mastretta's script is free of speechifying and delivers just enough story line to keep a plot in motion; words are rarely used when expressions can better convey feelings. Apr 15, 2016 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens With the look and feel that captures the independent spirit of filmmaking and Los Angeles, Echo Park lights up the screen with an artsy sun-kissed vibe . Dec 14, 2019 Full Review Angela Trott Film Inquiry The minimal narrative of Echo Park may not be engaging enough for some, but overall this is a gently poignant film. Dec 8, 2016 Full Review Courtney Bissonette Bust Magazine Those with an appreciation for photography will find the film particularly enjoyable, as it's easy to see that the director incorporated her background in photography to manifest a visually delightful film as well as an engaging story. Audience Member Movie life is worth living when you stumble across a gem without a display cabinet. This is gleaming. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was quite enjoyable I thought. And the main leads best friend is Hispanic so idk what gripe that other reviewer had. If all you saw was race in this movie, you watched it wrong. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Good movie. So glad he didn't turn back. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay, it rambles along and goes nowhere, but I actually quite liked this one. Nice performances and very much like real life. It wasn't the ending I hoped for, but it didn't feel contrived either. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member s.l.o.w. The acting seems fine, and the direction seems competent. But I don't know how this script got made. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The worst film I've seen in a long time. The only point of contention is whether the writing or the two lead performances is worse. Both are atrocious to the point of wondering if the entire thing is an elaborate practical joke.
