There are great band leaders -- and then there's Eddy Duchin (Tyrone Power), who becomes an overnight sensation when he plays during the intermission of Leo Reisman's orchestra one night. He gets on stage thanks to a beautiful woman, socialite Marjorie Oelrichs (Kim Novak), with whom Duchin has a passionate, loving and ultimately tragic relationship. After an acclaimed musical career interrupted by World War II, the only challenge left for Duchin is reconnecting with his estranged son.

jimmy b It's great to watch due to CinemaScope and Technicolor from Columbia, the little studio that could. Kim Novak never looked more glamorous. It's a shame she actually only has a supporting rather than starring role, due to her character's death early on. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Linda a Oneofmyfavorite movies.Love the music and the technicolor photography. Also, Tyrone Power was wonderful. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was Kim Novacs performance whixh swwmws stilted. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review ashley h The Eddy Duchin Story is a decent film. It is about the life story of the famous pianist and band-leader of the 1930s and 1940s, Eddy Duchin. Tyrone Powers and Kim Novak give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. George Sidney did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and music. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
