15 years after a global apocalypse, mankind is on the verge of extinction. Civilization no longer exists, food is scarce and most eke out a living by stealing and killing. One boy clings onto life in the desolate British countryside, where staying away from others has been key to his survival. But this self-imposed isolation comes to an abrupt end when he crosses paths with another group of survivors and faces an enemy far more savage than any of them could imagine.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian It takes two ploddingly long hours to tell a cumbersomely inflated and often dull story, which even at the finish line has to be wound up pretty arbitrarily. Rated: 2/5 May 20, 2020 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film There's obvious talent at work in this film; its weaknesses seem to stem mostly from inexperience on [Andrew] Gilbert's part or from the constraints of an obviously tight budget. Rated: 2/5 May 20, 2020 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall It's impressively staged, even if the writing and direction lack texture and the whole movie is badly in need of tighter, less indulgent editing. gerard l I enjoyed the movie. It doesn't feel like a big budget movie and I'm ok with that. I felt doom and despair and cold and hunger, I believed the story being told, I enjoyed the acting, and I bought into the proposed hopelessness and violence humans would devolve into if circumstances brought on a new dark age. The second half was more like an action movie, yanking me away from a satisfying vision of endless dull and misery. I feel like the movie ended abruptly on a different theme, disconnected from the delectable despair-horror introduced in the first half and the end didn't resolve enough answers for me. It just feels like the movie might have had unfortunate time contraints. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review lee h The acting is really good but the pace of the story is at times so slow i honestly thought it was near the end, paused it and found out it wasnt even halfway through. It could have been probably half hour less at least and still told the exact same story. The ending isnt really all that satisfying, it feels more like the end of a shows mid-season finale more than an actual conclusion Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
