15 years after a global apocalypse, mankind is on the verge of extinction. Civilization no longer exists, food is scarce and most eke out a living by stealing and killing. One boy clings onto life in the desolate British countryside, where staying away from others has been key to his survival. But this self-imposed isolation comes to an abrupt end when he crosses paths with another group of survivors and faces an enemy far more savage than any of them could imagine.

It takes two ploddingly long hours to tell a cumbersomely inflated and often dull story, which even at the finish line has to be wound up pretty arbitrarily. Go to Full Review
Jennie Kermode Eye for Film 05/20/2020

There's obvious talent at work in this film; its weaknesses seem to stem mostly from inexperience on [Andrew] Gilbert's part or from the constraints of an obviously tight budget. Go to Full Review
Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall 05/20/2020

It's impressively staged, even if the writing and direction lack texture and the whole movie is badly in need of tighter, less indulgent editing. Go to Full Review

Ian R Dec 5 The premise is hardly unique but it remains interesting. The film is difficult to follow due to the disjointed editing. It jumps from different scenes abruptly often going back 20+ years. I was genuinely interested in the story but found it impossible to watch this movie for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. Ultimately, it is overly long and suffers from a lack of direction and disjointed editing. Too boring to be a worthwhile time filler. See more Terry W Sep 6 Edge of Extinction is a British post apocalyptic indie film set 15 years after a nuclear war. Don't expect a Hollywood movie, rather, expect a gritty, realistic immersion into a horror filled world where, as the villain in the film suggests 'Violence is king'. Don't watch it if you have no interest in being transported to that type of world. Do watch it on a rainy afternoon where you can allow yourself to go there. It is a long film, and many complain about that, but for me personally i wanted it to go on even further! The violence is raw, brutal, and far more realistic feeling than a lot of big budget PA movies. It makes you wonder how on earth you would cope in that world, many wouldn't even want to, but it is in our nature as a species to survive, and the title of this movie says it all really. Cast not really convincing in character and story is not captive. See more Read all reviews
