Scott Bryan BBC.com I was really hoping for something that was completely comprehensive that went from the start of his life to where he is now. It sort of felt that they kind of cut and showed certain bits. Rated: Must Watch Jan 8, 2025 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian It is not the same as the 1997 touring documentary, Tantrums and Tiaras, directed by Furnish, which gave a sharper view of Elton John’s temper and the nervous energy of his creativity. But there is, as ever, pleasure and awe in hearing his great songs. Rated: 3/5 Dec 13, 2024 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com Less a complete statement than an assortment of loosely grouped notions and materials, held together by the subject's incandescent music and the quiet forcefulness of his personality. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 16, 2024 Full Review Frances Taylor Radio Times This documentary charts his path with a sympathetic and celebratory, if slightly sombre, portrait of the Rocket Man. Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2025 Full Review Diego Batlle Otroscines.com …even with its obvious limitations and clichés- Never Too Late is a well-deserved and at times emotional…tribute to a grand and brilliant artist. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Jan 14, 2025 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net It’s kind of crazy to get a documentary on the man on Disney Plus that doesn’t mention The Lion King even once. Tom B Fascinating bio pic of Sir Elton John. As a child of the late 60s & 70s, I enjoyed this immensely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Janet Love anything Elton John - It met all my expectations Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Victoria F Fantastic film. It takes you on a journey through the highs and lows of Elton John's career and life. The music is incredible and it was nice that they included tracks that are lesser known. The archival footage and spotlight on his relationship with John Lennon was a real treat. It felt raw and honest. Recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Yash B Ultimately, "Never Too Late," is a sweet and heartfelt documentary celebrating the life of Elton John. I have always found him to be an inspirational artist and think he truly has an extraordinary life. I do feel the movie could have captured a lot of other things in his career and even have been an in-depth series. My main issue with the doc is that a lot of the topics in this were already covered in 2019's outstanding "Rocketman," which even today is one of my favorite films from that year. I do think by the end of the documentary I felt a lot of emotions and I could definitely feel the tribute nature of this project, and I think it created a lot of positive emotions. Overall, it is a good documentary about a man who is truly larger than life, and while it leaves a bit to be desired, as a fan of his, I still liked what was presented. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/25 Full Review matthias s **Elton John: Never Too Late – A Fantastic but Slightly Incomplete Tribute** Elton John is, without question, one of the greatest singer-songwriters and performers of all time, and *Never Too Late* does a great job celebrating that. Packed with archival footage, classic songs, and glimpses into his personal life, it’s a must-watch for any fan. Even though I knew most of his story, the sheer amount of never-before-seen clips made it all feel fresh. The segment about his friendship with John Lennon had me in tears—so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. That said, while the documentary is incredibly enjoyable, it skips over some key parts of his career. His work with Disney? Barely mentioned. His struggles with addiction? Could’ve gone deeper. It’s a solid tribute, but a few missing pieces keep it from being definitive. Still, if you love Elton (and who doesn’t?), it’s a great watch. 3.5/5 stars. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Carolyn N I found the movie both honest and very moving while being full of fun and adventures. The music scenes fabulous and I only wish I had been to many more of his concerts and there were still more to enjoy Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review Read all reviews
