Scott Bryan BBC.com I was really hoping for something that was completely comprehensive that went from the start of his life to where he is now. It sort of felt that they kind of cut and showed certain bits. Rated: Must Watch Jan 8, 2025 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian It is not the same as the 1997 touring documentary, Tantrums and Tiaras, directed by Furnish, which gave a sharper view of Elton John’s temper and the nervous energy of his creativity. But there is, as ever, pleasure and awe in hearing his great songs. Rated: 3/5 Dec 13, 2024 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com Less a complete statement than an assortment of loosely grouped notions and materials, held together by the subject's incandescent music and the quiet forcefulness of his personality. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 16, 2024 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens If you’re a fan of Elton John, then this is a treat that gives a peak behind the curtain. But for those more casually acquainted with John’s work, this is a music-doc that doesn’t work very hard to convert new fans. Rated: 3/5 Mar 30, 2025 Full Review Max Gao Elle Never Too Late serves as a fitting tribute to the life and legacy of one of the greatest musicians—and LGBTQ+ icons—of all time. Mar 12, 2025 Full Review Frances Taylor Radio Times This documentary charts his path with a sympathetic and celebratory, if slightly sombre, portrait of the Rocket Man. Tom B Fascinating bio pic of Sir Elton John. As a child of the late 60s & 70s, I enjoyed this immensely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Janet Love anything Elton John - It met all my expectations Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Vixo S A happy ending to an extraordinary life. Elton John: Never Too Late is a documentary I enjoyed, even though I didn’t feel it brought anything truly innovative to the world of artist documentaries. Still, I appreciate that it was made while he’s still alive to see and enjoy it. What stood out to me most is how it doesn’t just show his successes but also his failures and torments, making it feel more human and honest. It’s impossible not to be moved seeing how far he has come and how happy he seems with his family today, proving that not every great story has to end in tragedy. A heartfelt and worthy tribute to a life full of music and resilience. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/16/25 Full Review Fong Kok Hoong F Engaging audio interviews for Elton John's 2019 memoir Me with animated sequences and a truckload of never-before-seen footages, this documentary disclosing the singer's highs of his career spanning half a century and lows of his darkening psyche evokes ever so nostalgic bittersweetness as it closes with "Your Song" at his final tour at the Dodgers Stadium. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Guy J Touching and insightful film. Loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Lucie J Brilliant - lots of footage I hadn't seen before and the kind of honesty that makes me love him, definitely worth seeing Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/25 Full Review Read all reviews
