Cameron G Very good! It is a rather calmer Poliziotteschi film, but it doesn't disappoint. This is truly one of Stelvio Massi's best films, as well as Tomas Milian's. It is a very underrated Italian crime film, it needs more attention. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/15/24 Full Review Audience Member No surprise that Tarantino loved this kind of movies: crime, blood, babes and good music. The 70s were the golden age of italian cinema. Emergency Squad - original title: Squadra Volante - features a brilliant Tomas Milian who suddenly became the icon of italian "giallo" (Almost Human, another successful movie featuring the cuban actor, was released in the same year). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Some very fun bits with Moschin vs. Milian, but Lovelock may be at his most impassive here. So, adjust expectations based on the cast accordingly. Casini is great as Moschin's moll, however, with her character named Marta Hayworth and acting as loonily narcissistic as possible. Great Cipriani score as well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the best example of an Italian crime film “non-Umberto Lenzi”-style. It is nice to see Tomas Milian not playing a psycho killer for once (as I said some time before, some winning formulas are worth changing every once in a while), but as a maverick Interpol inspector with a personal bill to settle, he could have been edited in more prominently by Stelvio Massi (there are just too many parts of the movie without him to show how serious he is about his revenge mission). Also, he could have done without that eternal cigar he keeps chewing instead of smoking. This movie has a fuzzy plot with a few too many vague additional characters and asides. At the same time, the progress of the story is too dull to keep us on the edge of our seats. I wasn’t too impressed by the overdone characterization of the blonde bimbo girlfriend of the “Marsigliese” (Gastone Moschin), the cry baby act of one of his mates when the going gets tough, nor by the music that supports the final confrontation scene (way too pleasant and lacking in ominousness). The fans of the genre will probably like it for the machine gun action, the traditional armed robbery (with crash helmets as disguises this time), the pathos element (orphaned child, woman getting shot next to her pram), the sexual intimidation (topless girls with plumpy breasts well in view), the views of Pavia, and many more things, but in my opinion, some other, similar movies make a better job of this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Tomas' fashion is interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was my first venture into 70's Italian cop movies, and it was a good place to start. Cool soundtrack, great performances, and some gritty action. What more can you ask? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
