D C Jeri cocaine is the greatest character name of all time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Dan R Back in 1999 there seemed to be a glut of supernatural films released, some good some bad. So let's start off with 'End of Days'. SYNOPSIS: 'At the end of the century, Satan visits New York in search of a bride. It's up to an ex-cop who now runs an elite security outfit to stop him.' By this point in his career Schwarzenegger had fought every villain known to man, even a Predator, so it made sense his next challenge would be the Devil. I actually really enjoy this film even though it's been pretty much vilified since its release. Yes, it's not perfect by any means but it ticks a lot of boxes for me. Arnie is just Arnie and that's ok. Gabriel Byrne is brilliant as the Devil and it's intriguing that he'll find himself in another 1999 film where he'll sit on the other side of faith (review coming soon). 'End of Days' is big popcorn fun. It's brash, lurid, bloody and ridiculously entertaining. 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review James G If you like Arnold movies then you will like this movie. CGI is on par with 24 year old movies from 1999. Fun movie to watch right before the new year. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/30/23 Full Review Barnabas C Quite possibly the greatest Christmas movie of all time. I adore every moment of it. It's Arnie at his very best Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review David W 11 percent really? Did you even watch it. Hard to take this site seriously sometimes when you give out clearly nonsense ratings. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Blu B Sometimes an actor adding their signiture to a movie is a good and bad thing. In this case it's just makes things worse. The cineamtography & pacing are just bizarrely atrocious. This never stops with throwing nonsense, over the top stupid moments, horrifcally bad CGI, unintentionally funny moments, and never takes a breather. Everything else about it is subpar. This is like someone tried taking The Exorcist/Omen and mixing it with a disaster/apocalypse plot and making it into a action thriller hybrid with the Arnold actiont tropes and failed terribly at it. Arnold & The Devil are terribly miscast. On top of that this is filled with bland characters like Christine, dumb characters, and bizarre ones topped off with bad dialouge. The soundtrack also is like someone tried taking a religious horror movie and a action movie and blending the two soundtracks together and it never works cohesively. Most importantly, this is just a dumb idea for a plot. Why did the devil wait until the last week of the year to hunt for Christine and why does he keep toying with Arnold so much. It's so stupid. The scene with him tempting Arnold with his family in the middle is probably the best part but because the acting is so miscast it's just ok at best. Skip This completely. Paul Tatara CNN.com Arnie's not taking any chances this time, and the result is the most questionably repulsive big-budget film in recent memory. Feb 6, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Tired dud of an over-the top violent action movie. Rated: 2/5 Dec 24, 2010 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek Peter Hyams's lurid, FX-happy thriller slams pieces of a dozen other movies into a noxious new compound. It has to be seen to be believed, but who'd want to? Mar 31, 2008 Full Review Chuck Klosterman Akron Beacon Journal End of Days is never interesting and usually silly, but it might help Arnold get some momentum if he really does run for the governorship of California. At least he'll get the anti-Satan vote. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 30, 2023 Full Review Kathi Maio The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction The fatal flaw lies in the fact that the Devil, especially when personified by a talented and handsome actor like End of Days's Gabriel Byrne, is actually much more compelling and personable than the hero. Feb 27, 2020 Full Review Christopher Smith Bangor Daily News (Maine) The movie pits Arnold Schwarzenegger against the devil (Gabriel Byrne), with director Peter Hyams delivering tense moments of action amid not-so-subtle choices for character development.
