Nick R One of worst movies I have ever seen. Lot's of mistakes in the plate. Van Dame looks very old and stupid. His French would get him beat up if he spoke like that in France - sounds like he has a lisp. More likely he is just mentally unstable - as he got older. Way too old to be acting anymore Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/19/23 Full Review corkball I just cannot in good conscience recommend this film. It is just plain dumb. The plot is dumb, there are major gaps in logic and motivation... just dumb. I had to double take on the Orlando Jones thing. It took me 20 minutes to accept he was in a serious role. Well, seriously dumb. The other male lead was fine, but seemed totally miscast. He struck me as being an extra from some rom-com as opposed to an action star. Van Damme on the other hand, just completely hammed it up with an over the top crazy Tommy Lee Jones impression with an eco-terrorist bent and Joker hair. I wouldn't say his character was great or anything, but if you like Van Damme, you probably got your money's worth. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/23 Full Review Liam D Peter Hyams (Hanover Street, Outland) delivers a classic 90s action movie approach to it with an scene chewing performance by Jean-Claude Van Damme (Replicant, Inferno) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review edward r Moderately entertaining. A mixture of comedy, action, pointless killing and a farcical plot. But at the end of the day not much worse than the endless crap that is available out there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review steve d Fun action film with a different role for Van Damme. Nothing special but it will please fans. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Van Damme makes a good villian in this otherwise wierd composion.. fight scenes and logical thinking of the good kind is rather scarse.. Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Van Damme makes for a highly entertaining villain in this briskly paced B-movie. Jan 29, 2014 Full Review Matt Singer The Dissolve Too bad no one else in Enemies Closer can match Van Damme's oddball charisma. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 24, 2014 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com Van Damme's English is less intelligible than usual, and his line readings are sluggish in places. Improbably enough, this adds to the performance ... Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 24, 2014 Full Review Andrew Pollard Starburst Breezy, enjoyable fun that's not to be taken too seriously. Predictable, yes, but it's worth a watch just to see Van Damme's crazed hairdo. Rated: 6/10 Apr 12, 2018 Full Review Isaac Feldberg We Got This Covered If you don't expect anything groundbreaking or dramatically dynamic, you'll probably have just as much fun watching Enemies Closer as Van Damme, playing a total fruitcake of a villain, clearly did making it. Rated: 7/10 Mar 11, 2014 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Outrageous, unintentionally funny, cartoonish, dumb and consistently entertaining---in other words: the ultimate B-movie that's best watched at midnight with a group of friends while intoxicated.
