Chris M Surprisingly this plot from 1997 feels more like a movie from 1955. Down to the African Cannibal tribe which pretty don't exist anymore in modern Africa. Like most Ernest movies it has some gross out jokes I could do without. The Flea Market was full of assholes. The one thing I'm impressed with is that they actually filmed in Africa, considering this was a right to video movie and probably didn't have a huge budget to work with. Of course there's a scene where Ernest dresses up in "brown face" which will offend the more easily offended types. But it was important to the plot and it was pretty funny. Lastly the puppet effects for the crocodile was bad. Probably a victim of the budget. Not for everyone, especially if you are the type that get offended easily but I enjoyed it more than the last Ernest movie. Not perfect and some of it "Didn't age well." But still worth checking out. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review Audience Member While having some bits that will probably be problematic for 2020 audiences, this is just another innocent, goofy Ernest adventure. Not the strongest note to go out on, but there's still a few laughs. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/30/20 Full Review steve d Nothing great but Varney is as good as ever. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This Ernest movie was pretty good. Jim Varney and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot to the movie was funny and pretty adventurous. This is a movie for the whole family to enjoy. Not everyone will enjoy this movie, but I thought it wasn't too bad. If you enjoy the Ernest movies, check this one out sometime if you haven't yet. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Some laughs but not much. Not as bad as the final film though, but still pretty abysmal. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review william s What a stupid premise but I'll admit I laughed more than once.
