gina s Awesome movie, now I want to read the book. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Audience Member this was alright. i wanted it to be better though. i, like a few others, was VERY confused for the vast majority of the film right away. i read Nelly's book years ago so was familiar with her story & when it seemed like she was actually crazy & just experiencing this asylum on accident rather than on purpose, it mad me a little angry to think the filmmakers changed her story & made her a victim. however, they DO sort of turn the narrative around at the end, but it was almost like it was too late i was already over the movie, haha. idk. i guess i wished we had known why & how she got there right away up front. i felt the whole "romance" or whatever that was with one of the doctors was unnecessary as well. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Michele D She was one strong woman. Thank you Nellie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review Audience Member Disgusting. I can’t imagine having to go through this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/14/19 Full Review Audience Member The real story was already interesting and salacious enough without falsifying so many aspects. Christina Ricci is pretty good, but it would have been much more enjoyable to watch a documentary on the events instead of watching a fictionalized retelling. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review melanie m wow I can't believe I didn't have to pay for this movie and its one of the best movies I have seen in a while! Judith is amazing ... and we need to see her in more films!! Ricci is just always amazing so thats not surprise to me .... what sad time we really have come a long way as humans , I know sometimes it doesn't seem that way but if you really look back to these barbaric times and really puts it all in perspective ..... Robyn Bahr Hollywood Reporter Ricci, who's always done well by her darkly curious characters, is convincing as a marked woman. But it's Light who ravages the screen, her Matron Grady filled with the class-based self-hatred of a woman Inspector Javer. Jan 22, 2019 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette If the goal was to goose the drama, "Escaping the Madhouse" falls well short of its intent. Jan 18, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
