      Critics Consensus

Every Secret Thing has a sterling pedigree both on and off the screen, yet all that talent adds up to little more than a listless, predictable thriller.

Alexander H Holy moly is this movie depressing Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/06/23 Full Review Conrad H 1st of saying it's like a Law & Order as well as saying recorded as well is sacrilege. Law & Order is compelling attractive fun sometimes disturbing but Al's worth it. This film Every Secret Thing is just wrong. Wrong as incredibly boring dry waste of time not worth the film it's recorded on. The acting is very subpar the director is like a child learning how to direct. Now don't get me wrong huge fan of Elizabeth Smart & Diane Lane. They couldn't save it also definitely wrong Fanning. Dakota has nothing on her little sister. Right off the bad I knew Alice was the bad guy. Although I did love how the black cop does the superior racist profiling of Common. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Jeremy H Tragic, Disturbing and Frightening. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Outstanding cast! Elizabeth Banks is at her best in this role. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/23 Full Review Jeffrey P two one . to to it, but . Their mods, not mine. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review P E Every Secret Thing cashed in on the "creepiness of fat women" over any coherent motives or complex storytelling. The mom was toxic. But that was likely the superficial reasoning that the writer and/or director felt was good enough to mold a baby killer/stealer. But the baby had nothing to do with the mom. Nothing to do with Alice's jealousy and recognition of her mom's preference for her friend. Ultimately there were way better directions that could have been taken. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Nina S I DONT KNOW WHO PLAYED THE DARKEST SUSPENSEFUL ROLL! DIANE LANE OR DAKOTA FANNING!!! ALL THREE TOP ACTRESS WAS SUPERIOR!!! ITS A MUST WATCH AND PAY CLOSE ATTENTION & HOLD ON TIGHT ITS A ROLLERCOAST Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rex Reed Observer It's described as a smart, suspenseful psychological thriller, but there's nothing smart about it, and as an alleged thriller, when the mysteries are explained in a twist finale, it could use a psychologist of its own. Rated: 2/4 May 20, 2015 Full Review Isabella Biedenharn Entertainment Weekly Diane Lane is chilling as Alice's shifty mother, and though some of the "secret things" are Law & Order predictable, other revelations will haunt you for days. Rated: B May 15, 2015 Full Review Scott Marks San Diego Reader The mystery-movie-of-the-week premise is buoyed by the evenly detailed performances from the four female leads Rated: 3/5 May 15, 2015 Full Review Jim Ross TAKE ONE Magazine Although adeptly acted and featuring a good handling of tone by Berg, she occupies a position of too much observation and not enough visual expression, even if the film's core narrative is engaging. Feb 13, 2020 Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) It is almost enough to make one forgive the film's flaws, including a melodramatic score that brings the piece uncomfortably close to afternoon TV movie territory at times. Rated: 3/5 Aug 24, 2018 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews An unpleasant crime drama. Rated: B- May 29, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
