Tara Brady Irish Times The Makers of Fast Girls are likely hoping that international viewers will see past the movie's promiscuous use of Union Jack waving to focus, instead, on a tale of plucky sporting underdogs. Rated: 3/5 Jun 17, 2012 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Here is a likable and fun British film: it's a little like Bend It Like Beckham. Rated: 3/5 Jun 14, 2012 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) Hall, making his feature debut, rarely strays from the underdog sports movie template, but the two appealing young leads come as a welcome blast of deodorant to this stale narrative armpit. Rated: 3/5 Jun 14, 2012 Full Review Joseph Walsh CineVue It unashamedly rides on a healthily patriotic good-will, creating a story that attempts to relate to every class and creed of Britain, albeit in a light and warm-hearted manner. Rated: 3/5 Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Sarah Boslaugh PopMatters ...watching Fast Girls is a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and a particularly welcome contribution to the genre because it focuses on female athletes competing in a non-glamour sport. Rated: 6/10 Feb 12, 2013 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher [W]holly unsurprising... yet this flick is wholly winning thanks to its abundance of good cheer, generosity of spirit, and refusal to go too easy on its protagonist. Laurie S A good-feel factor film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a good movie with solid cast giving good performances. If you like athletics and you like a happy, feel good ending then this is definitely for you! It's OK for any age and do not be put off by the "Oh it's just a film for teenage girls" label. It is better than that. The plot may be somewhat predictable with a class clash between white middle class girl (Lily James in one of her first films) with authority figure dad and working class, rebellious black girl (Lenora Crichlow from Being Human). However, the leads play it well, there is a good mix to the cast and it is thoroughly enjoyable. Watch it and give yourself an (unexpected?) treat. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Watching on BBC iPLAYER at moment this movie always makes me SMILE it really is a few good movie to watch in these hard times Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Though the ending does not being realistic.. it still cheers me up.. made me happy as if I was part of their relay team Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review richard i You could be patronising and call it a plucky little fighter, but it's actually a student film writ large, with a "that'll do" approach to dialogue and implausibly flexible relationships and characterisation, but which carries some A-game performances all the same and an eye for good editing when needed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Basically 'Bend it like Beckham' but with relay sprinters, this was clearly made to cash in on the London Olympics. It's done solidly though with a strong female cast and really I'm probably not the target audience here. If you've a teen daughter I'm sure they'd really enjoy it.
