What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tired and uninspired, Fear Street plays like an '80s retread of better slashers, while ensuring the winning crown does not go to this Prom Queen.

Becky Darke Empire Magazine This deeply disappointing new Fear Street instalment leans too hard into worn-out tropes and excessive gore, at the expense of fun, engaging characters or any genuine scares. Rated: 1/5 Jun 4, 2025 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com While the identity of the villain knocking off the prom queen candidates is obvious, the sheer uninhibited Road Runner meets Wile E. Coyote excitement of the climax remains delightfully infectious. Rated: 2.5/4 May 27, 2025 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety There’s a lot of limb-severing and such. But “Fear Street: Prom Queen” never rises above its pedestrian concept, which simply lifts cliches from standard slice-and-dice opuses...without ever figuring just how seriously it wants to take them. May 25, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy The audio description track here is one of my favorites of the year. Liz Gutman’s writing is flawless, and the description captures every gory detail. While the movie is mixed for me, the description might be the reason I’m leaning positive. Rated: 64/100 Sep 28, 2025 Full Review Isabella Cantillano-Sanchez InBetweenDrafts 'Fear Street: Prom Queen' is a disappointing entry in this franchise as well as a symptom of this era of streaming slop. Horror fans deserve better than films like this. Rated: 1/10 Jul 24, 2025 Full Review Rua Fay Cinemasters The sad truth is that nothing about this film works. Not the performances, not the comedy, not the storyline, nothing. Rated: 0/4 Jul 21, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Christian F Adriana Greenblatt is in it so yea 1 star, btw cause she is good not bad Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/06/25 Full Review KerryWhite's S. 6/10. 68/100. | W/ Dad for Halloween. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/02/25 Full Review love H. I don’t know the hate to this movie is is good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/01/25 Full Review Johann D. M Based on the 1992 novel The Prom Queen from R. L. Stine’s Fear Street series, this slasher serves as the fourth installment in the Fear Street film franchise. Set in 1988, it follows a masked killer who begins targeting the prom queen candidates of Shadyside High on the night of their senior dance. Sadly, this entry feels like a major step down from the original trilogy. It fails to capture the mystery, tension, and emotional depth that made those films stand out. The characters are thinly written and difficult to care about, while the performances feel forced and unnatural, with clunky dialogue that drains any suspense. The story sticks so rigidly to familiar slasher clichés that every twist can be seen coming from miles away. While the retro 80s soundtrack is acceptable, it is not enough to make the film memorable. The kills are gruesome, too obvious, and unimaginatively executed, lacking the creative flair that defined the previous films. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/29/25 Full Review Chloe O This movie is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/26/25 Full Review Camille V One of the WORST movies I’ve ever seen in my life! Completely predictable, lost the thrill and the comedy behind the first 3 Fear Street movies on Netflix. A terrible plot line, no character development whatsoever, barely any comedy, terrible acting, and terrible storyline overall. This really feels like Netflix just wanted to make a buck and turn a movie around quickly. Also, Ariana Greenblatt was one of the most famous actresses in that entire sad movie and her character had 0 role through it all. A missed opportunity. I am serious when I say I don’t know if I’ve seen a WORSE movie…. Not worth your time. So bad that I would consider cancelling my Netflix subscription. They had such an opportunity to continue a hot streak from some decent / good movies with the first 3 Fear Streets that had better storylines, were funny, and entertaining. But dang, you guys missed the mark. I also think this is the first movie review I’ve ever written. And I’m just writing this because that was without a doubt probably the WORST movie I’ve ever seen in my life. Terrible, awful. Do not waste your time.
