Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Muddled but diverting B film noir melodrama. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member So, now it's time for a review of a Jayne Mansfield-movie! Though, I should add that she only has a small role, but it's actually her debut. I honestly had no expectations at all, before watching this. It's been on my "wanted"-list for a good while, and the main reason why I wanted to see it, was because it's Jayne Mansfield's debut role in a motion picture. But I have to say that it was actually better than I had hoped for. I find these unpretentious low-budget Noir's a bit charming. They usually have a very plain and straight story to work on, and few but strong and colorful characters. I can appreciate those components at times. Look at Detour, for example! Female Jungle may not be as sharp as Detour, but it belongs to the same category of B-noirs. The movie is about the chasing of a killer of a beautiful blonde movie actress. There are several possible culprits in the picture; an off-duty cop (Lawrence Tierney), a caricaturist (John Carradine), a janitor (James Kodl), a columnist (Burt Kaiser) and his wife (Kathleen Crowley) and his lover (Jayne Mansfield).... This movie is not too impressing but contains a few thrills, but most importantly is a chronicle among film noirs, and definitely watch-worthy if you're into those! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member great trashy B movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Rather lurid and somewhat boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Jayne Mansfield made her screen debut as a sexy siren in 1955's "The Female Jungle." Although Jayne's screen time is limited, the plot of the film kept me interested. Overall, I enjoyed watching this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
