Richard Nilsen Arizona Republic The bottom line for all these speakers is that if you follow the so-called hero's journey, you will find fame and fortune. I think we've heard this tune before. Rated: 1/5 Oct 20, 2011 Full Review Walter V. Addiego San Francisco Chronicle Campbell's admirers will probably enjoy the documentary, but I don't think it will do much for anyone else. Rated: 2/4 Oct 13, 2011 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Campbell's career and influence encompass much wider fields of interest than are considered here, despite the pic's colorful surface. Oct 4, 2011 Full Review Kelly Vance East Bay Express Useful and arguably illuminating documentary introduction to the work of Joseph Campbell. Oct 14, 2011 Full Review Eric Monder Film Journal International Earnest attempt to introduce Joseph Campbell's philosophy looks and feels like an infomercial. Sep 30, 2011 Full Review Fr. Chris Carpenter Movie Dearest Nicely shot and edited but generally employs a standard "talking heads" approach and lectures more than it engages. It is strongest whenever it quotes (Joseph) Campbell directly. Rated: B Sep 30, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Low budget feel, but a rare gem! A modern and relatable take on the Hero's Journey. Those going through a personal or spiritual transformation may relate. Also recommended for anyone interested in depth psychology, mythology, personal growth, or those looking to make sense of the non-linear path to healing and transformation. Truly inspirational. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member So much wisdom! Inspirational. Amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie will change your life. Again and again. Or, better put- it will enable you to change your own life by following your calling. Be the person you were meant to be by following your own path. Patrick & the cast do an incredible job of telling the story while inspiring others. Critics missed the boat on this one, big time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie rocked. What's really powerful about it is that it's a "compass document" for how to use the framework of The Hero's Journey to navigate your own life adventures. If you feel like some powerful "other life" is beckoning you to be bigger than who you know your self to be, this is the movie for you to support you in giving language to that ambition. If you want to play it safe, or feel good about how you sold out years ago on a chance to be something more than just a critic or a hater, than you're probably going to hate this movie and give it a bad review. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a particularly well-made documentary, but the power of the philosophies of Joseph Campbell keep it afloat and engaging to watch... once. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the worst film ever on what may be the most interesting topic - mythology, stories and Joseph Campbell. The Joseph Campbell Foundation is a good place to find information about Campbell's teachings and lectures without seeing a film full of lame motivational talks, horrible music and an overall bs. The people or group that funded this film must be complete idiots or were conned into this. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
