Christina Newland iNews.co.uk This low-key romance is an anti-dote to the dating apps. Rated: 4/5 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Robert Levin Newsday This is an affecting romance and a work of compelling social commentary. That's a noteworthy achievement. Rated: 3/4 Jan 31, 2024 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (LAist) It's a really interesting concept that they explore in understated ways. Nov 29, 2023 Full Review Maxance Vincent Film Speak Despite impassioned performances from Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed, Christos Nikou’s Fingernails can’t overcome shoddy trappings undermining its script at every corner. Rated: D Jul 14, 2025 Full Review Matt Pais MattPais.com Doesn’t learn any hard truths about the difference between people’s idea of love and the real presence of it. Rated: C Feb 19, 2024 Full Review Pallavi Keswani The Hindu The film knows that it is about the frictions that emerge when humanity is rendered through technology, but does not fully reach out to explore a spectrum of emotions. In short, this love story also plays it safe. Jan 19, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Angela R It was bad. Please don’t watch it Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Jorge A I've never felt a rating to be so ridiculously mismatched from what I believe to be its true value, nor a film so disastrously undervalued. This film is for those who truly appreciate genuine romance—those who understand and cherish the depth and beauty of subtle gestures, of life's small yet significant moments. A gesture can say more than a thousand words, and this film is perfect for those who enjoy movies like Her or The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The soundtrack and the cinematic quality of each scene beautifully capture every emotion, wrapped in a sense of modern nostalgia about something timeless. Perhaps no one will read this review, but let me say it anyway: it’s truly scandalous that this film doesn't have a higher rating. Easily one of my favorites in recent memory. My only regret is that the movie wasn't slightly longer—I enjoyed it so much—but what a beautiful ending! Am I the only one feeling this way? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Jerod S I thought the premise was interesting and quirky - yanking a pinky nail to test for love. But the message, being that you can't test for love, couldn't overcome the awkward connections on screen. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Jenna T One of the worst executed premises I've ever seen. The whole thing was pretentious, juvenile, and aggressively boring. The characteristics of all characters are diluted and executed with an elementary school-esque type tone. No real chemistry involved. The entire thing devoid of any authenticity. Waste of time for everyone involved and every pair of eyes that had the displeasure of viewing this garbage. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Audience Member By the end of the first hour it felt like it should be ending, the only thing that saved it was the leading pair, both actors are very easy to watch and have great chemistry. But the run time definitely ruined it, as well as an unresolved ending for such a long wait. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review julie b Semi interesting dystopian premise but everything - writing, dialogue, acting, visuals - fell so flat. Needed a quirkiness infusion a la Yorgos Lanthimos to make it work. I like Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed in other movies, but in this one the only performance that was convincing to me was Jeremy Allen White.
