Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This is really touching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful, emotional short film that has a huge impact in a small amount of time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES is a fictional take on the treatment of disabled people in World War II, but it still nails the cruelness, stigma, and violence against disabled people in Nazi Germany. Ashley Eakin brings awareness to a part of history that is never about. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Very problematic film. It gives the impression that the Nazis hunted down disabled people within Nazi Germany. That is far from the case. The Aktion T4 eutanasi program killed several thousand people, but they were all mentally retarded and/or psychiatric patients. People with only physical disabilities were not killed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member As a historian, I have to point out that the Nazis did not send tanks with soldiers to rip children with mildly impairing disabilities from their homes or chase them through fields. The children and adults killed were institutionalized, so the strategy was to get them into institutions. The Nazis had plenty of cooperating doctors and psychiatrists to convince parents to send children to institutions or to involuntarily institutionalize them through commitment orders. There, other doctors and psychiatrists would decide who would live and who would die. The T4 program was horrible enough as it was, but it did not involve soldiers and tanks hunting kids. This movie is a gratifying revenge fantasy only loosely tethered to history, just like the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
