Wayne M From Hilde, With Love is an interesting and well made film, even if it doesn't execute perfectly. It's a true story and feels like an important one. It's the story of Hilde Coppi, a German communist and resistance fighter before and during World War Two. Hilde was a young medical student who becomes part of the Red Orchestra. The film concentrates mostly on her time in prison after she is captured by the Gestapo. Clearly, this is a most harrowing time as you would expect. The film also uses flashbacks to show her carefree time when she met Hans Coppi and how they joined the resistance. The flashbacks for me don't work as well and I think the film would have worked better being told in a linear fashion. But Liv Lisa Fries is wonderful as Hilde, making that alone a worthwhile watch.
