A terrific showcase for Phillips, who delivers the sort of lived-in performance that garners awards. Go to Full Review

Layered with rich cultural specificity, this gritty and evocative crime drama yields authentic emotional depth beneath its formulaic procedural surface. Go to Full Review

Like the masters of hardboiled noir classics, [Grashaw] subverts the genre to say something meaningful and it leaves the audience ragged and breathless. The result is one of the finest thrillers of the year. Go to Full Review

Crime drama Keep Quiet may seem abrupt and pared-back, but there’s confidence and depth in its study of inner peace amidst social turmoil. Go to Full Review

Jeff B @JeffersonBaker Jun 10 I had the good fortune of attending the screening of Gangland (Keep Quiet) during the recent Dallas Film Festival (DIFF). Gangland is a gritty, immersive portrayal of the all-encompassing effort to maintain law and order on a Reservation, and is grounded by the fantastic performances from its cast (with Lou Diamond Phillips, Dana Namerode, and Elisha Pratt being particular standouts). Based on what he achieved with Gangland, I look forward to seeing the next film directed by Vincent Grashaw. See more Ann E @RT96780392 May 12 Keep Quiet is a bleak, beautiful thriller that lingers long after it ends. Vincent Grashaw crafts a stark portrait of life on the Thunderhead reservation, where silence is both survival and burden. Lou Diamond Phillips delivers one of his strongest performances as Teddy Sharpe, a weary officer whose compassion guides him more than the law. The fragile community erupts when Richie Blacklance returns from prison, sparking violence rooted in trauma rather than spectacle. Teddy’s new trainee, Sandra, challenges his lived‑in approach, creating the film’s moral tension. A turn by James Healy Jr. late in the film, deepens the story’s questions about who the real criminals really are. With haunting cinematography, a powerful score, and raw, authentic performances, Keep Quiet becomes a gripping, human thriller. Its only flaw is the brief look at Teddy’s relationship with his son. Opening July 10, it’s a must‑see—bleak, honest, and unforgettable. See more Amy K @amargaret Apr 28 I was fortunate to attend the North American premiere of this film at DIFF. This is one of Lou Diamond Phillips’ most powerful performances to date. The film grips you from start to finish, driven by exceptional acting, confident direction, and striking cinematography. The casting of many Indigenous first-time actors adds a layer of authenticity that makes the story even more compelling. It doesn’t shy away from difficult truths—exploring the complex challenges Indigenous communities face in preserving culture, creating opportunity, and confronting the impacts of addiction and crime. Ultimately, this is a story about morality, accountability, and pride. I hope it inspires Hollywood to invest in more Indigenous stories—told by Indigenous filmmakers. I found myself crying at the end, which shows how deeply the story affected me since I'm usually not emotional about movies. It left me feeling just "wow!" I'm really glad I saw it.
