Tracey Petherick Common Sense Media A standard Disney offering from the 1990s' TV movie stable, this is nonetheless a charming coming-of-age story with a lighthearted tone. Rated: 3/5 Sep 28, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member An above average Disney channel original movie. I thought there was going to be more supernatural sci-fi elements involved like a Nutty Professor angle. But this does star a young Emmy Rossum. Charlie is a young prodigy with a high IQ but because of his advanced intelligence he ends up being target practice on the social hierarchy. He does end up teaching a college course and working with a lab assistant. Then he decides to experiment juggling two personalities as a geek and as the suave, cool kid Chaz at his old school. It seems to work for a while but how long can he keep lying to everyone around him despite his capabilities inventing items that help the hockey team, even impressing his female crush Claire? Even the particle accelerator in the lab has to be continuously monitored. This does provide a decent coming of age story while also showing the ups and downs of being a genius even at a young age. Who do you appeal to more; the higher ups or the ones you’re supposed to be associated with? Charlie has a lot to learn about friendships, honesty, feelings, and the limits of being smart even as a kid. 25 years later this still is a decent watch although it could’ve reached much higher. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/24 Full Review Audience Member Being someone that you're not, in hopes of having a better life is something that we've all have dealt with at one point of our lives and this movie tells that story with exaggeration and creativity and heart and keeps the audience so engaged with the mishaps that branched off from the leads decision to come up with dual identities that we the audience resonates with the message of being true to ones self. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Not bad for a Disney channel movie in 1999. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Cute Disney live action flick Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member ahh! i used to watch this and Brink every time it was on the Disney channel lol Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Genius used to be one of my favorite Disney Channel Original Movies when I was younger, but as I watched it recently it didn't have the same magic it once did. The movie was still enjoyable, but parts of it were a lot more lame than I had remembered. (First viewing - Teen years) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
