Steve D It is so hard to assess because Wallace was so evil for so long but Gary Sinise is fantastic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A very good TV movie on George Wallace, the segregationist governor of Alabama. It's an interesting balance they have to make between sympathy and acceptance. Wallace comes across as less of a bigot than I'd expected (he actually speaks out against the KKK at first) and more of a political opportunist using an issue he knew would draw votes. Or, slightly more sympathetically, he's a populist who craves public support to fill some emotional void inside himself and he's determined to position himself on their side of the issues. Honestly, at least a bare bigot can claim the courage of his convictions. Wallace seems a moral coward of the worst sort, and while his path to semi-redemption feels earned it's astounding how much it took to instill any sort of moral compass in him. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member directed by the gr8 john frankenheimer (seconds, manchurine candidate) & someone I got 2 meet doin' time in LA he was very kind & accomidating just another LA story true dat! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member For a miniseries about a very complex and controversial person, it's quite compelling. At times hard to get through, but it's a drama with a lot of story to tell, and still a short amount of time to do it in. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
