Gator F She is married with two children and is in town for the funeral of her reclusive brother. He is single and is in town for his high school reunion. While he hopes to meet his sexy high school sweetheart, he does not expect to find her married with children but still with a mad crush on him. He turns to the stranger in his hotel to help him solve the dilemma of how to get rid of his amorous former girlfriend Endearing, sweet chemistry between the two leads. Rarely have I seen such charm in a romantic comedy. While there are definitely some amusing scenes, the ones that rivet you to your chair are the ones between the two leads as they start to fall in love and don't know what to do about it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Audience Member If you want an example of a well-written, well-produced and well-performed movie made on a conservative budget then this is one. Getting To Know You is a simple story told with equal and well-placed measures of drama, comedy and romance. Good performances from leads Natasha Little and Rupert Penry-Jones, and a sparkling comedic supporting turn from Rachel Blanchard. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie jumped the shark several times, particularly with the character Kayla. There were some scenes that were so poorly scripted and unrealistic that I cringed watching them. It also didn't play the delicate balance of friend and potential lover as well as it should have. A movie that did a far better job was "lost in translation" which is similar in many ways (two strangers at a hotel, ensuing relationship, inevitable parting of ways). Lost in Translation walked the tightrope better as the boundaries between the characters were kept in a much more tasteful and artful way. I do like the low budget vibe of this film and I can't say it was a waste of time but I wouldn't recommend it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review ann c I laughed, I cried, I wanted more... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review thomad t This is such a well-written, touching, humorous, unexpected, slow-moving, but perfectly paced movie that is performed by actors with total control of their craft. I was smiling, laughing and aching as the end approached, and I want to see everything that Natasha Little has ever done! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member We were surprised by this one. Enjoyable. A little formulaic. But it didn't go the way that most romcoms go; forbidden love fulfilled. There was restraint in the relationship, despite a recognizing their attraction and love for one another. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Louisa Moore Screen Zealots It may be lacking in star power, but the film has a winning formula that will appeal to those seeking a grown-up romantic comedy. Rated: 2.5 / 5 Nov 28, 2020 Full Review Natasha Alvar Cultured Vultures Rupert Penry-Jones and Natasha Little muster up some credible chemistry as romantic leads, but the comedy side of the film falls flat. Rated: 6/10 Nov 25, 2020 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT It is rare a movie can hold so steadfastly to tropes and get away with it. This formulaic rom com does so by having leads with fantastic chemistry and a strong supporting cast. Nov 24, 2020 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation A light, wistful Canadian romantic comedy that clings to its longing and amuses in its awkwardness.
