Critics Consensus

Ghost Rider is a sour mix of morose, glum histrionics amidst jokey puns and hammy dialogue.

Donald Clarke Irish Times It all seems so wearyingly old fashioned: teenage delinquents on motorbikes, creaky incarnations of Satan, a rock'n'roll take on dangerous cool. Rated: 1/5 Mar 19, 2012 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian It's ridiculous, likable, with some pleasing reminders of the Blade movies. Rated: 3/5 Mar 3, 2007 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Grand, empty gestures and loads of CGI effects can't cover up pure schlock. Even the character's iconically cool trademarks -- a flaming skull and a fiery chopper -- are reduced to Velveeta slices. No, damn you, sir. Rated: 3/10 Nov 24, 2020 Full Review Megan Basham WORLD This strange amalgamation of Texas Ranger lore, NASCAR bravado, and the-Devil-and-Daniel-Webster trickery keeps the campy fun revving just enough that you can't completely hate it. Estuard F La mejor adaptación de Ghost ryder. Muy infravalorada. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review Rose N greatest movie of all time. my children will watch it and my children’s children will watch it. nick looks really good with his head as a skull on fire and this movie really shows of his range and versatility as a actor. he’s no one trick pony - he doesn’t just find the declaration of independence Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review Hughe J Ghost Rider was released in theatres in 2007 and stars Nicholas Cage in the title role with Wes Bentley as the evil demon Blackheart and Sam Elliot as the old Ghost Rider. The story is a bit convoluted but as a fan of the comics basically Ghost Riders sell their souls for various reasons to the demon Mephistoles and in return gain incredible powers, but must serve their master. Elliot betrayed the demon and now Cage is the new Ghost Rider who must choose to fight the demons and save his soul or be forever cursed. For the time period the CGI was pretty good and Ghost Rider's character as a skeleton riding a motorcycle while whipping around a flaming chain was impressive, sometimes, other times not so much. Even though this was one of my favorite comics as a kid, the movie failed for me due to the acting - it was terrible. The script wasn't great for sure, most of the jokes fell flat, but everyone's acting in this movie was just awful. It's worth a watch if you're into superhero movies or Nicholas Cage over the top acting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/20/25 Full Review Shaun R A horrible, horrible film. Terrible in every way. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Speakerman G Gostaria que esse filme fosse um clássico, mas é perturbador e muito exagerado. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/16/25 Full Review Niklas A One of the few films i decided to interrupt watching, the story is poorly written, the villains feel like they came out of a school project, Cage's performance is just unberable and awkward to watch and the editing is just straight up garbage, it just felt like a waste of time.
