Critics Consensus

Listlessly wafting between action, comedy, and romance without ever solidifying into a satisfying whole, Ghosted earns a chorus of boos.

Ghosted isn't great, but if you're in the mood for a fun, lightweight action movie, there are definitely worse options.

Christy Lemire FilmWeek (LAist) Big-budget, glossy, empty and soulless. May 17, 2023 Full Review Dylan Roth Observer Sadly, Ghosted fares no better as an action-adventure film than it does as a romantic comedy. Rated: 1/4 Apr 26, 2023 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) After a point, it starts to feel like Ghosted is trying to brainwash its audience. There is no chemistry, sexual or otherwise. Rated: 1/5 Apr 24, 2023 Full Review Martin Carr martincarr.co.uk On paper everything about Ghosted should work. In practice this Ana de Armas/Chris Evans romcom actioner falls flat. Peppered with lazy storytelling and believability issues, Ghosted looks expensive but lacks substance. Aug 29, 2024 Full Review Nadya Martinez All Ages of Geek Ghosted is even more bland and unoriginal than your typical Hallmark channel movie, with bad acting, terrible one-liners and a forgettable plot that fails miserably as it tries too hard to be too many things. Rehan A ⭐️⭐️ Ghosted tries to mix romance comedy and action but ends up feeling like a mismatched mashup. Chris Evans and Ana de Armas bring star power but the chemistry falls flat and the plot relies on worn out tropes and implausible twists. It moves fast and looks slick but fades quickly from memory. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review Courtney K it's what you think it is; pretty typical action-romance story. i enjoy both Chris & Ana & i think they played their parts well - i'm just not sure i believe 'Cole Turner's massive character growth/flip at the end there. but that's okay - i liked it nonetheless. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/08/25 Full Review Audience Member Apparently, Mingora is stuck in the 1800s. Who knew? So I just watched Ghosted, expecting a light action rom-com… and suddenly found myself in a Hollywood hallucination of Pakistan. According to this film, Mingora — a modern, bustling city in the Swat Valley — is apparently a dusty war zone with carts, chaos, and total gloom. I almost expected a tumbleweed to roll past Chris Evans. Let me clarify for the filmmakers: *Mingora has malls, markets, hospitals, schools — and shockingly, even Wi-Fi.* It’s an industrial hub where people from cities like Lahore go shopping. Yes, people go to Mingora for quality, not to escape from it. I get it — you needed an “exotic” danger zone. But maybe, just maybe, the writers could Google before smearing an entire city with stereotypes last seen in Cold War action flicks. It’s 2023, folks — time to upgrade the software in your scriptwriting brains. If you're gonna name-drop a real city, try not to turn it into a low-budget post-apocalyptic level from Call of Duty. Pakistan deserves better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/03/25 Full Review Jay W After an embarrassing meet cute, Cole Turner, played by Chris Evans, goes on an impromptu date with Sadie Rhodes, played by Ana de Armas. After what Cole thought was a great date, he cannot get a hold of Rhodes. He then uses a tracking device on his inhaler to find out where she is. The inhaler, or his asthma is never used or mentioned again for the rest of the film. I do not believe Turner and Rhodes as a couple, and all the scenes where they are bickering are painful to sit through. The action is undercut from its more comedic tone, making none of the scenes feel like there is real peril. The funniest parts of the movie come from the random people who will pop in and out. Like a ghost, this movie seems to be lacking any real life. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/13/25 Full Review Koi P Entertaining, humorous, action-filled love story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review petrs l I liked it! There is so much chemistry between the two! She is gorgeous and a great actress. The story is cute and easy to watch, and it doesn't have dark things like zombies and other stuff that most movies have lately! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/27/25 Full Review Read all reviews
