David Fear Blender Baby’s Beantown mystery benefits from Ben Affleck proving he’s a decent director with a knack for nailing the local Boston color of Dennis Lehane’s book. Michael O It's a P.I. movie with the feel of an indie drama, set in the working class neighborhoods of Boston and filled with characters that feel like they've lived on the streets all their lives . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/25 Full Review Sena I. Gone Baby Gone mistakes shock value for storytelling. Ben Affleck leans on hollow twists and moral posturing instead of building a coherent narrative, resulting in a film that tries to be profound but ultimately feels contrived and uneven. What makes it even harder to buy into is Casey Affleck in the lead role. He’s trying to play gritty and hard-boiled, but mostly just looks like someone who wandered into the wrong set. His performance is flat, which only amplifies how emotionally disconnected the entire film feels. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
