So the situation goes. A man, with an acting career just about solidified in the dirt, has the idea that maybe behind-the-lens is a better direction for his career (perhaps the only one left). As a result, one of the best detective thrillers of the 21st century is produced and a destroyed career reshapes into one of the most sort after in Hollywood. The man is Ben Affleck and since this outstanding character piece, he has yet to disappoint. Though, this still remains, his greatest contribution to cinema.

How this film got such rave reviews is beyond me. It's full of plot holes, nothing anyone does makes any sense. Detectives make decisions that are not based in any kind of reality. The acting for the most part is terrible. Only the performances by Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan saves this film from being a complete trainwreck.
