Laura S Touching, humorous, at times serious. Well- balanced story of an individual who sacrificed her personal life to save her father's reputation. She stayed 'home' to repay his debt, becoming an elementary school teacher, striving to be her best at the work, and touching the lives of so many children and others in her community. If only our lives could be so simple again. A feel good, at times extreme story, but wholesome and endearing. Jones does well in the role. Fun seeing other character actors in their youth. Some will find it dull, but it was interesting looking back in time to a way of life gone forever, and I felt nostalgic and a tad sad for it. Glad I watched this movie. I am a retired music teacher. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Mark V I've never seen another movie like it. Anyone who calls it "boring" needs to have a heart transplant, ASAP!! It is so kind and loving that you unfortunately HAVE to go back to the '50s to find its ilk, they don't make'm like this anymore. I laughed and cried and who cares if it's "sentimental?" it doesn't pretend otherwise! And since when is sentimental bad? OK, it's not non-stop action, no gory violence or adult themes, it's just a simple story about a beloved elementary school teacher who devotes her life to honor and to her students. Jennifer Jones as Miss Dove is simply AWESOME and Robert Stack as Dr. Tom Baker and Peggy Knudsen as Nurse Green are also terrific, not to mention a YOUNG Chuck Connors! Watch it with your kids and take the opportunity to voice your admiration for Miss Dove and ask them if they'd like to have a teacher like her, it'll be a valuable lesson they won't soon forget! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/23 Full Review Victor T Lovely to look at this CinemaScope production, but sorry it's about as boring as they come. I usually love all Jennifer Jones' movies, but not this one. She's woefully miscast as the town's sole schoolteacher. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Jennifer Jones does an excellent job aging from 21 to 56. The movie could have easily become maudlin but, instead, tells the story with charm without feeling you are being manipulated. I'm not sure that there was another Hollywood actress, at the time, that could have pulled it off. She still had some of the "shine" from the role of St Bernadette from "A Song of Bernadette." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member As usual, Jennifer Jones' talent is wasted in this long borefest. Robert stack manages with what he has. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review ashley h Good Morning, Miss Dove is a decent film. It is about Miss Dove is a strict disciplinary, plus a well respected teacher. Jennifer Jones and Robert Stack give okay performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Henry Koster did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
