Audience Member Yikes. I just didn't care about anything going on in this movie. Nothing to see here. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The casting was well done but in general the movie just left me confused and annoyed. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Good film, Ive always liked Paul Schneider. But to nitpick, in NC you have to be separated for a year before being granted a divorce. Would have added a spin to the film Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review kevin w A happy husband and dad abruptly discovers that he is surprisingly none of the above and thus has make efforts to redefine himself again. What's going for this: schmarts and plenty. Against: alas, the tone seldoms varies. But you'll see yourself somewhere in here and will smile for that irregardless. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked it. There is some off-color stuff of sorts but that's why I like it I guess...it seemed kind of real. I like Paul Schneider and his voice, and though he always plays the same character, I can usually relate to that character. In this, everything is a bit of a comedy: he thinks he's happily married only to find out, via his wife's shrink, that he will be getting divorced. He begins to date only to find everyone is a bit of crazy. There's a great line on one of his dates...this quite odd woman tells him he's the disaster. It's terrific. By most standards, he's a good and normal guy and he's the disaster. If you haven't lived that life, maybe you won't think it's that funny. So maybe a little pointless, but if you're a middle-aged man who is mostly good, yet you're single for this reason or that, I suspect you could enjoy this movie. It just highlights some of the crazy shit you'll see and hear in the quest of finding someone to spend time with. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Say goodbye to this movie before it starts. Should be called: "Watered Down 40 Year Old Virgin, Part II." We are supposed to believe that the extremely ordinary (and IMHO rather ugly) Paul Schneider is an automatic chick magnet to a bevy of very attractive younger women that all can't wait to have sex with him. The thing is, he has zero personality, a dreary job, and offers no reason why even the real world women a newly divorced man of his ilk would come across. The plot and writing is thinner than a new computer tablet, so the totally unbelievable story line becomes outright annoying. How anyone could like this turkey-pice-of-crap is beyond me. Leah Greenblatt Entertainment Weekly The movie's tone never quite evens out, but there are still sweet minor-key moments, and some good lines in all that. Rated: B+ Dec 31, 2014 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times A charming supporting cast fails to invigorate "Goodbye to All That," a relentlessly flat seriocomic take on contemporary relationships marking the directorial debut of "Junebug" scribe Angus MacLachlan. Dec 23, 2014 Full Review Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture The film's tone remains playful -- there are even some broad, laugh-out-loud moments involving a sex toy -- but poignant little moments sneak in, hinting at darker, more troubling themes. Dec 19, 2014 Full Review Q.V. Hough Vague Visages Goodbye to All That is a witty romance with real-life consequences for millennials to consider. Jun 28, 2022 Full Review John Fink The Film Stage It's frustrating when Goodbye to All That runs up against the guardrail, but I'm glad to report it never derails. Rated: B Jun 6, 2016 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Although its premise feels artificial, there's plenty of genuine poignancy beneath the surface of this bittersweet low-budget comedy.
