Audience Member Lately I read an article about Rigoberta MenchU's story. Other people were able to talk about her, I didn't know nothing about her so I couldn't say anything. Few days later, I watched this movie and I thought about my amazing friend Paul Yamaguchi. He's been helping Guatemalans although he doesn't make money from it. That type of volunteers deserve the Nobel Peace prize too. Now I'd like to read the book. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Those who don't know much about Guatemalan history may find this film a bit hard to understand, but those who already have the required background knowledge will find a powerful and eye-opening (if at times a bit choppy and one-sided) window into mid-80's Guatemala. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The use of archival footage to tell the story in this documentary is really, really well-executed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Very well made and significant, with some particularly striking documentary footage of combat between Mayans and the Guatemalan military. To me, the US involvement was the most interesting part for me, as we (Reagan) were actually funding the military to kill simple Mayan families. Good to see our tax dollars being used to exterminate villages with children. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a much better documentary than I thought it would be--saw it shortly after returning from Guatemala. I was surprised how well-made it was and how much actual footage they had., filmed during the rough civil war years, it gives you a good idea of the horrors that were occurring at the time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Intense. Important. Wish more folks were interested in this story. Well made film as well, the commentary was excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
