Audience Member Wai Ka Fai's first solo effort since 1997 is a piece of pure HK-cinema nostalgia and a tribute to the great Hui brothers prolific output of the seventies. It's also one of the oddest movie experiences in years, combining a nonsensic plotline with references to popculture both past and present. Most of the time and area-specific gags fly by unnoticed by non-HK residents of course, but the frantic energy of it all is quite catching. The most enjoyable part of Fantasia however, is watching these pretty top ranking actors behave like comlete morons for an hour and a half. That, and some great afro wigs too. It also stars Twins, which in my book is reason enough to stay and watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Before watching I had read reviews stating that this was a great homage to 1970's HK cinema and a hilarious romp... Well I guess I haven't seen enough HK cinema yet because most of the humor in this film was lost to me. I mean maybe if I had grown up watching the Litter Bug ads on TV I might have found the corny CGI dinosaur funny, but no the Jurassic Park spoof was just lost on me. Their is some general humor in here but not enough to make it worthwhile to the uneducated. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A piece of woo lau rubbish! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I dont' have much background knowledge of the HK movies in the 70's. Thus, I didn't get any resonance at all. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A remake off a classic in 1970s HK Cinema. However, it was really awful, terrible.
