The special effects were over the top, and the hacking was questionable in its portrayal, but that was the Hollywood envisionment of the day. Teh cast were all under-known actors at the time taht have all gone on to bigger and better things with staying power. Take critics reviews here with the biggest pinch of salt you can. It’s one of my top films of all times and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve saw it. It has one of the best movie soundtracks there is for that generation and era - which was released on vinyl for its 25th anniversary in 2020.
