09/15/2013 A story about living and loving and letting go. See more 02/28/2013 I thought it was fairly well done.. not perfect, but heartfelt . See more 05/13/2012 Quiet and a little depressing movie about love, life, death and saying goodbye - with a marvelous cast, especially the amazing Sharon Gless. They needed to show more variety in the flashbacks and delve deeper into the world back then. See more 10/09/2011 Adapted from a play and it showed. See more 02/15/2011 It was okay but nothing to rave about despite the film winning so many awards. http://www.hannahfree.com/ I think this info summarizes the plot very nicely: "Hannah and Rachel grew up as little girls in the same small Midwest town, where traditional gender expectations eventually challenge their deep love for one another. Hannah becomes an adventurous, unapologetic lesbian and Rachel a strong but quiet homemaker. Weaving back and forth between past and present, the film reveals how the women maintained their love affair despite a marriage, a world war, infidelities, and family denial." Sharon Gless performance was fine and a good plot but I found it very depressing towards the end. I recommend it but not part of my collection.. See more Read all reviews
