      Critics Consensus

Those who enjoy Adam Sandler's schtick will find plenty to love in this gleefully juvenile take on professional golf; those who don't, however, will find it unfunny and forgettable.

Michael V He doesn't play golf... he destroys it. Happy Gilmore is a 1996 American sports comedy film directed by Dennis Dugan ⛳️ It's ok, but I feel mixed about this one 😉 I'd recommend it if you like this genre, but if not then probably give it a miss 👍🏼👎🏼 Failed hockey player-turned-golf whiz Happy Gilmore -- whose unconventional approach and antics on the grass courts the ire of rival Shooter McGavin -- is determined to win a PGA tournament so he can save his granny's house with the prize money. Meanwhile, an attractive tour publicist tries to soften Happy's image. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review David E Rewatched for like 10 th time. This is not only a great comedy, but also a great sports movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Yash B "Happy Gilmore" is a completely silly movie that knows exactly what it needs to be. The movie has plenty of goofy laughs and the story is fun, while nonsensical. Adam Sandler is fun to watch and I think the character he creates here is ultimately endearing and easy to root for. I think sometimes the movie's wavelength is a bit much, but I think anyone who is willing to get on it will enjoy themselves. Overall, it is a goofy comedy that makes me want to watch more of Sandler's earlier comedies and is a quick and entertaining watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review DennisFeinstein08 This is EASILY one of the greatest comedies of all-time... This should without a doubt have a mid 90's rating Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Drew S I love happy Gilmore Adam Sandler in my opinion is a goat and it is a classic Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Jake S Classic! You want fun and funny this is your everyday winner. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Dave Kehr New York Daily News The comedy is never more than sudden, outsized explosions of violence from the otherwise placid, childlike Happy. But director Dugan maximizes the laughs through careful timing and counterpoint.
