Audience Member Basically just a modern, lesser remake of A Brief History of Time. Not as artistically enriching or hypnotizing, though perhaps more accessible, and still respectably covers the incredible life of an incredible man. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Watched it with the kids and we all learned a lot. Including that we knew very little about Stephen Hawking. This little movie might have also just increased my grasp of particle theory by about 102 percent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member science at work with splenda looking forward and back in life of Hawking Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member gr8 doc about one of my heroes Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member An Oscar winning performance as Hawking. At times it was hard to believe it was not him. This is the story of his life not a discussion of his scientific works. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Very detailed look into the life of a scientist who conquered great obstacles; unfortunately I found the film very bland and there was zero cinematic creativity . Carolyn Y. Johnson Boston Globe For a person who is keenly aware of the downside of fame - he worries that he is known as much for his illness as he is for his scientific discoveries - the storytelling falls short. Jan 31, 2014 Full Review David Hinckley New York Daily News He talks a lot about his two wives. This makes Hawking unusually revealing, because his life has almost always been framed in terms of his mental brilliance. Rated: 4/5 Jan 29, 2014 Full Review Verne Gay Newsday As billed, an intimate look at a genius, but the science gets a major haircut here. Rated: B Jan 29, 2014 Full Review Ben Nicholson CineVue Taken on its merits, Hawking serves as a useful introduction to -- and a touching, intimate portrait of -- its remarkable subject. Rated: 3/5 Mar 2, 2019 Full Review Chris Knight National Post If the film feels at times like a geeky version of MTV's Cribs, it's also a fascinating telling of Hawking's unusual life. Rated: 3/4 Dec 6, 2013 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall It's involving, but the straightforward approach doesn't say much that we don't already know.
