Tal Rosenberg Chicago Reader It's a dull and oddly morose subject for a movie. Apr 14, 2016 Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) The whole island seems to be in transition - huge developments threaten to deface the natural grandeur of the place - and this documentary may yet come to represent a vital memorial. Rated: 3/5 Nov 2, 2007 Full Review Sukhdev Sandhu Daily Telegraph (UK) The elegantly composed shots of the island's broodingly lonesome wide spaces offer clues as to the group's widescreen post-rock sound. Indeed, their music comes to seem site-specific, as environmentally immersed as the landscape art of Richard Long. Nov 2, 2007 Full Review Brian Gibson Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Alberta) Reverberates a sense not only of Iceland's people, places and history but a sense of natural intimacy and intimacy with nature. Capping it all is the band's best-ever, 'Popplagi,' a stunning 12 minutes that DeBlois matches with a shiver-inducing sequence Dec 27, 2013 Full Review Jon Fortgang Film4 Made with love for fans, this is an indulgent but enjoyable film about the band and the places that have inspired their music. Rated: 3/5 Nov 2, 2007 Full Review Jonathan Dean Total Film Heartfelt and humorous, if you're not pulsating during the Reykjavk finale you're probably kaput. Audience Member Beautiful and Genius. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Fantastic film and live performances. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Great music, gorgeously shot imagery of Iceland. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/16/17 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful movie with a beautiful soundtrack, one of my favourites. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A must-see for Sigur Ros fans, but anyone could enjoy it. You get an idea of what these musicians were capable of doing live in their heyday (1999-2008, but I think their best performances were 2000-2004 admittedly), the atmosphere they create is electric & regularly boggles the mind & senses. The intense, beautiful, emotionally engaging music is interspersed with shots of Iceland's gorgeous scenery & clips of interviews showing how down-to-earth the band obviously is. This film gives the irresistible impression that the direction of Sigur Ros' music, the dedication to their art & simultaneous desire to reject a bullshit celebrity culture comes largely from the land they belong to. They are a breath of fresh air. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful scenery, matched with even more beautiful music that pours through you like a warm beam of light. Sigur Ros projects their passion in every note, their skill echoes through the snowy hills welcoming you to come along for the tour. Music you can feel in your bones.
