Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com It’s kind of a disappointment, despite having some undeniable positives that should make it an easy watch for horror heads. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 27, 2024 Full Review Natalia Keogan AV Club It may not feel like the most emblematic of the family’s close-knit filmmaking style, but it is undeniably branded by their touch, rife with naturalistic dialogue and sludge metal galore. Rated: B Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Catherine Bray Guardian Existing as a labour of love isn’t enough by itself to earn any film a pass mark, but when the result is a committed piece of indie genre work with a suitably silly sense of the macabre, this gets the job done. Rated: 3/5 Aug 21, 2024 Full Review Maitland McDonagh MaitlandOnMovies (Substack) [A] movie for the ages? Not really. It’s a little too formulaic for that. Is it good fun? Hell, yeah. It delivers the requisite shocks, and overall it’s ... a solid example of the venerable disparate-people-trapped-with-a-monster school of horror, Jan 20, 2025 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers “Hell Hole” suffers from clunky editing and awkward pacing. The CGI, though used sparingly, is embarrassing. Oct 28, 2024 Full Review Michael Talbot-Haynes Film Threat Well worth sticking your face into Hell Hole, as there is a prize inside the box of wood chips. Hugo S A crew is drilling in a remote site in Serbia when they accidentally encounter a dormant parasite. The unknown species only survives inside the male body, and it does not hesitate to explore a new "home" in case it feels threatened. "Hell Hole" is a creature feature horror flick with plenty of dark humour and gruesome moments. The movie resembles "The Thing" as it also evokes nature's revenge against the ecological horrors caused by human action. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/01/25 Full Review Logan D Americans and Serbs at a fracking station unearths a strange creature looking for a human host. An obvious nod to creature features, especially The Thing-1982, this film sadly stumbles, especially in relation to The Adams Family's previous three films. Their last, Where the Devil Roams was a delightfully disturbed portrayal of family dynamics in depression era sideshows. This is an endeavor to pay homage but lacks creative vision and relies overmuch on dialogue. I did enjoy the attempt to ground the creature in science. There are some good laughs and lots of goopy gory effects, both practical and CGI but while I didn't consider it a waste of time I wish I'd liked it more. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Katie H Just. No. Watch zombeavers instead. Seriously. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/25 Full Review Christopher H Hellhole" is essentially an Eastern European imitation of John Carpenter's "The Thing." If you're desperately craving more of that body-horror paranoia, it might satisfy a very specific itch. However, for those seeking originality or even competent execution, this film is easily skippable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Courtney K i mean, it's B-movie status cheesy & more of a comedy/horror than straight horror, but kind of a fun watch. one of the best opening scenes, honestly, haha. it's got "The Thing"x"Dreamcatcher" vibes so if you're into those you might like it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review Jeepers C This movie really wasn't bad. I went into it, not knowing anything about it and came out enjoying it. Fans of John Carpenters "The Thing" will probably like this film , as it shares the whole alien jumping body routine in the movie. It has some really cool moments where bodies are exploding and the creatures design is pretty cool. The story starts out in Serbia. There is a Serbian franking operation going on. That's where the trouble starts. They discover a live person in a pod like cocoon that is infected with the foreign alien creatures. It comes out and starts the cycle of jumping to and from different members of the frakking team. This is where the creature gets hostile as it host keeps getting killed. It must find another. The team tries to escape from this monster. Is it too late, will anyone survive. From the ending, that they leave you with, I think the alien is alive.
