Tom Long Detroit News [T]his film offers little insight into whatever battles - internal or external - Hesburgh must have fought. It's far too busy polishing that halo. Rated: C- May 7, 2019 Full Review Steven D. Greydanus National Catholic Register A compellingly attractive if one-sided portrait of a figure of exceptional gifts, astonishingly diverse accomplishments and extraordinary influence. Rated: B+ May 2, 2019 Full Review John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter Serving as a profile in courage whose hero was widely loved, it doesn't necessarily convince those of us who don't know the man that we needed to see a doc about him. May 2, 2019 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Paints a wonderful portrait of a man many Hoosiers know but may not really know. Rated: 3.5/4.0 Sep 10, 2020 Full Review Asher Luberto Film Threat Nick Andert, Jerry Barca, and William Neal have fastened a pace as swift and handsome as its subject. This is an informative doc that's more concerned with being entertaining than explanatory. Homework, it is not. Rated: 6/10 Jun 11, 2019 Full Review Lisa Trifone Third Coast Review A glossy compilation of talking heads, archival footage and a narration based on Hesburgh's own journals, the film would feel right at home on a Sunday afternoon on the History Channel. Audience Member I must admit I'm a bit biased as my son Alex Mansour wrote the music for the film. As the proud parent of two Notre Dame students I was pleasantly surprised how much territory this movie covered. It wasn't just a profile about a great priest and leader, but an amazing journey through American civil rights history. Father Hesburgh was indeed a Forrest Gump like character, traveling through time and quietly exerting his influence on the civil rights movement in this country. A very entertaining film by Patrick Creadon that takes its viewer on a ride they probably aren't expecting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member An inspiring documentary about a man who we should try to be. I might be biased being from Notre Dame, but it was amazing learning about all the ways Father Hesburgh impacted not only the University, but also the nation. I love the continued theme of Hesburgh wanting to listen to all the sides of a conversation, even if he disagreed. Father Hesburgh's work in the Civil Rights movement is inspiring, helping start what later became the equal rights act. I was also surprised by the insurmountable connections the man had, who knows how he made time for anyone in the schedule of his. The music was great, fitting with the times and not overtaking. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review heidi Incredible story - often overlooked biography- he had a significant impact on major issues. Dont miss it!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/19 Full Review A P Extremely well-crafted, informative, poignant and complete doc. You do not have to be a ND person to appreciate the man and film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/05/19 Full Review Audience Member It’s been a long time sense I have seen such an amazing movie had no idea Father Ted had been so involved in changing equality for all what a gift he gave us what a blessing he had in uniting all to a common good Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/02/19 Full Review Mark G Powerful!
