In the wake of the death of his high school coxswain, Mirjana "Esther" Zivkovic (Gala Videnovic), Sacha (Marko Todorovic) reunites with his former rowing teammates in Belgrade and reflects on life as a teenager in 1950s Yugoslavia. Memories return about the rowers' mutual love of American music, and a heated rivalry with a group of pro-communist youths disdainful of their infatuation with Western culture. Over the course of the reunion, each friend speaks also of his own love of Esther.
