When missing government lawyer Frank Canfield is accused of embezzling state funds, journalist Brad Bradshaw (Paul Muni) refuses to publish the headline because he considers it sensational and unverifiable. But when the media circus declares Canfield guilty, Brad is demoted for getting scooped by every paper in town. Now forced to write a ladies' advice column, Brad struggles to save face, attract a readership and find out the truth about the Canfield case in hopes of regaining his old job.
