In this documentary by Joachim Fest, the rise and transformation of Adolf Hitler is examined in great detail. Video clips from the period give an unflinching view into the leader's uncanny powers of persuasion and show the overall state of mind of the German people, who were desperate for a new public identity. This film especially examines Hitler's early years in the public eye, and it details the long journey he made from being a mediocre artist to one of history's most hated monsters.

Audience Member A very interesting back story on Hitlers Career. Revealing so much more than the usual war docos. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Because we Americans live in the age of rising fascism and authoritarianism, primarily in the form of mango Mussolini a.k.a. Trump. This movie is extremely important for all human beings who believe in freedom to watch Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member History everyone should know. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member With the "Trump is Hitler" sentiment that is rampant in today's social and political commentary, I thought I would watch a documentary on the real Hitler to see if I could draw any parallels before Hitler rose to power and became a genocidal egomaniac warmonger. This is a very well done documentary, but one of the most surprising things I found out from this was that the story of how Hitler was killed leaves a lot of question marks. Hitler's body was never really able to be identified, Russian soldiers found charred remains and the narrative was that it was Hitler. I googled it, and found out that in 2009 the bone fragments from the body that was claimed to be Hitler's were analyzed, and they turned out to be from a female. So Hitler may not actually have been killed in German at the end of the war like we've all been told. He was born in 1889, so I don't think we have to worry that he's still alive now - but Hitler could have lived for a very long time after the war and we would not have known it. Does this matter? Probably not. Is it interesting? You tell me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Exhaustive look at Hitler with the most footage you could ever hope to want to see. Frames him as a manipulative, image conscious demagogue rather than a lunatic and works well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the best documentary but sill watchable. not long enough for a start and the title is awful i would not exactly say Hitler had a career.
